Setup and Technical Issues

Can Zephyr be installed on a network, and if so how? What are the advantages and disadvantages of this?

StyleADVISOR can be installed on a network, and we have many clients who run the program this way. The cleanest way for this to be done is to have both the executable (style.exe) and the data files on the network and then have all users access the executable via a shortcut on their workstation desktop. This tends to be a better setup than using a local install with data on the network because of data update and license issues. The program will work fine with local executables but each person will need to run an index update every couple of months to update their local license. In the near future we will be converting all data to SQL Server for a more efficient server/workstation install.

Can I share my custom data with other users in my office?

Yes. First the return files must be placed on a shared network drive that all users have access to. Each user must then run the Database Creator program; it is located in the StyleADVISOR program group. Within Database Creator the user must designate the file extension, the database name and description, and the location of the shared files. Then click Update and the database will be accessible on that computer. For more information on importing data see How do I import returns for a manager/index?
